Qatar: The QE Index ended Sunday at 8,564.84. Losses in the industrials sector weighed on the gauge. After hitting a 22-month high last week, investors started booking profits at market heavyweight Industries Qatar (off 2.40% at QR150.90. Islamic insurance posted the largest increase (up 2.10% at QR59.10). "We think infrastructure development will be the key driver of growth in the coming decade in Qatar," said Citigroup last week, adding "We expect hydrocarbon sector growth to level off this year as the government this year reaches its cap of 77 million tonnes per year, although there is still scope for further growth in the non-LNG sector, particularly in condensate production. Growth should therefore come down sharply in the forecast period, and will be driven mainly by the non-oil sector, where high levels of government expenditure on industrial and infrastructure projects are the key driver."
