Qatar: The Qatari government has issued a new legislation breaking the near-monopoly of Q-Media over street hoardings and other publicity avenues, including Qatar Radio and TV as well as Aljazeera network, the Peninsula has reported. According to the new law, Qatar Media Corp has the authority to take care of advertisement rights for the audio-visual media, while the Qatar Olympic Committee is responsible for hoardings and other publicity materials meant for stadiums and other sports facilities. Similarly, Qatar Posts has been authorised to accept advertisements for its printed materials, while the Civil Aviation Authority is authorised to provide hoarding rights to advertisers at its facilities, including the international airport.
