Qatar: Qatar's Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has launched a national plan for road safety designed to introduce changes to traffic rules and regulations and cover all aspects of safety of individuals and vehicles on the roads, the Peninsula has reported. Ashghal had last year invited bids from international consultants to prepare a general strategy for road safety in the country. It is expected that under the plan, changes will be introduced to the current system of issuing the driver's licence. Fines and other punishments for traffic violations are also expected to be addressed in detail in the new plan. [AMEInfo.com]
