Qatar Telecom adds slightly, announces details for capital increase

Qatar: The QE 20 Index declined 0.13% to 8,652.87 points. Al Ahli Bank (up 2.79% at QR69.90) was the only lender which advanced. Shares of the country's first telco provider Qatar Telecom or Qtel closed 0.10% higher at QR129.00. Earlier in the day Qtel announced the details of the rights of subscription for the capital increase decided on March 25. "It shall be given to the shareholders, who are registered in the shareholder register with the Qatar Exchange (QE) and Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) on Wednesday, 9 May 2012, at a price of QR75 per share (QR10 nominal value plus a premium of QR65), subject to the announced terms and conditions," Qtel said in a statement to the Qatar Exchange. On March 25 Qtel won approval from its shareholders to increase its authorised share capital to QR5bn or $1.37 billion. In addtion, shareholders gave green light for a 40 per cent rights issue. Qatar: The Qatar Exchange index added 0.10% Thursday, finishing at 8,661.46 points. Shares of Mannai Corportation closed even at QR93.60. Earlier in the day, Mannai Corp subsidiary Golden Capital Investment Ltd. and EFG Capital Partners have received valid acceptances of their cash bid for Damas "in respect of 775,317,961 Damas shares, representing approximately 78.37% of the issued share capital of DIL." On March 28, the consortium offered around $445m for Damas, whose CEO Anan Fakhreddin welcomed Mannai and EFG as 'ideal partners'. "This effectively means that the Consortium has now acquired control of Damas and all Damas shares assented to the Bid (whether previously or whilst the Bid remains open for acceptance) will be purchased from accepting Damas shareholders at the bid price", Mannai said in a statement to the QE. Qatar: Qtel has said its 40% rights issue, which aims at raising QR6.86bn, is to hit the market on May 13, 2012, Gulf Times has reported. The telecom firm is issuing 91.52 million new shares at QR75 per share, which includes a premium of QR65. "The right of subscription shall be given to shareholders, who are registered in the shareholder register with the Qatar Exchange and Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange on Wednesday, May 9," a Qtel spokesman said.
